Summer Camps in Mooresville
Summer Camp Hours: Monday through Friday 9:00am - 12:00pm
Topic: Edible Science
Campers will embark on a scientific adventure filled with fun and delicious treats! Geared up with goggles, they'll explore the fascinating world of science by conducting experiments like transforming matter, triggering chemical reactions, and harnessing solar energy for cooking. As gummy worms dance to the rhythm of the day, you'll hear the excitement of children as their volcanoes erupt with a spectacular display!
In addition to exploring the properties of edible substances, children will learn about fundamental scientific concepts, such as states of matter and energy transformation, in an engaging and tactile way. This hands-on approach to science allows children to connect abstract concepts to real-world experiences, enhancing their understanding and fostering a deeper appreciation for the subject.
Some of the questions we will be answering this week include:
- How can I use the power of the sun to create s’mores?
- What is a hypothesis?
- How fast will my gummy worm dance?
What will I use to make my volcano erupt?
Topic: Aloha Summer
After a day filled with exciting activities like surfing, beach ball relays, and coconut bowling, a vibrant Hawaiian luau will await. Campers will learn the traditional island dance, the Seaweed Slide, while wearing their unique handmade grass skirts. As the island adventure concludes, children will bid farewell with warm alohas and mahalos.
This adventure introduces children to Hawaiian culture and traditions, expanding their cultural awareness and appreciation. By engaging in themed crafts and activities, campers gain skills in teamwork, creativity, and coordination, all in a joyful and colorful context that highlights the joy of cultural exploration.
Here are some of the questions we'll be exploring this week:
- How will I design my Tiki mask?
- Can I scuddle like a crab?
- Can I “walk the plank” without getting wet?
- What will my multi-dimensional sandcastle look like?
Topic: Tinker Lab for Young Innovators
Is your child the next Thomas Edison or Nikola Tesla? Join us as they observe, discover, and create amazing new inventions! Don't forget your blueprints, as we'll be building wacky wind mobiles, racing robots, and egg parachutes. Our children will conduct in-depth investigations, formulate hypotheses, and share their curiosity about how things work. Step into our tinker lab and let your imagination soar!
The Tinker Lab encourages innovation and critical thinking, providing campers with tools and opportunities to pursue their own unique ideas. Children learn trial and error-based problem-solving by engaging in projects that require persistence and creativity, valuable skills that will serve them well throughout their educational journey.
Here are some of the questions we'll be answering this week:
- How can I change the molecular makeup of a solid object?
- What materials can I use to create a bubble wand?
- What natural materials will I extract color from?
- Will my apple boat float?
Topic: Passport to Fun & Discovery
Bonjour! Who knew you could travel the world in just one week? Grab your passport and let's embark on an incredible adventure. Our campers will journey to Mexico to savor a delicious quesadilla, Ireland to create a Celtic knot, Egypt to explore the ancient pyramids, and even Brazil to celebrate Carnival. As a souvenir from their travels, you'll receive a postcard filled with their exciting experiences. Adios!
This global experience introduces campers to different cultures and languages, which helps develop their global awareness and broadens their perspectives. Through hands-on activities, children not only learn about various international traditions but also engage in storytelling that enhances their communication and listening skills.
Here are some of the questions we'll be exploring this week:
- What will my maracas sound like?
- Will my boomerang come back to me?
- Can I follow a recipe to make pizza?
What materials will I use for my Ethiopian weaving?
Topic: Cooking with Color
Get ready to unleash your imagination and creativity as we embark on a culinary adventure! We'll use food to create amazing sensory experiences and delicious edible treats. Our young chefs will put on their aprons and chef hats as they prepare pizza, ice cream, smoothies, and much more. We'll explore the world of culinary arts as we measure, sift, stir, and create edible masterpieces.
Cooking with Color emphasizes the integration of sensory exploration into learning, allowing children to experiment with flavors, textures, and colors while developing practical cooking skills. This theme not only sparks culinary passion but also integrates essential math and science skills such as measuring and mixing, promoting a hands-on understanding of these disciplines.
Here are some of the questions we'll be answering:
- How can I transform marshmallows?
- Can I follow the steps of a recipe to make waffles?
- What color will I turn my Oreo?
