Heather Calhoun

Principal Heather Calhoun is honored to bring Ivybrook Academy’s unique approach to the Mount Pleasant community. A mother of 3, Heather whole-heartedly believes in the importance of a strong educational foundation through hands-on exploration, problem solving and working collaboratively with others. She’s deeply committed to nurturing inquisitive minds, honoring individual voices, and supporting children’s diverse learning styles. She believes the joy of learning is cultivated through these specific practices, which will serve them well beyond their early years.


Heather earned a Bachelor’s degree at Clemson University and later her Master’s degree at Kansas State University. Her family’s military background has given her enriching life experiences in Ohio, New Mexico, Alabama, England, Virginia, Tennessee, Kansas, Oklahoma, Alaska, Louisiana, and South Carolina! She is grateful to have experienced different cultures and diverse geography which served to develop confidence and independence at an early age.

Vice Principal/Curriculum Coordinator

Laura Roach

Vice Principal and Curriculum Coordinator Laura Roach has been an educator for over 16 years. She is a mother of 2 and is excited to share her love for early childhood education with our school community. Laura holds a Teaching Credential, Master’s Degree in Teaching Reading, and Reading Specialist Certification from the University of San Francisco. She is also an experienced K-8 School administrator, Reading Specialist, Curriculum Coordinator, and has taught just about every grade Prek-8.


Laura is excited to get back to her roots in early childhood education and partner with parents to build a strong emotional and academic foundation that will last a lifetime.[/vc_column_text]
