About Ivybrook Myers Park

Sandy Patterson, principal and owner, understands the importance of creating a unique environment where education and community come together. It is through Ivybrook’s innovative and progressive curriculum that they strive to connect with children and open doors to new ideas and perspectives each day.

Meet the Pattersons

Tony and Sandy Patterson are not only parents, but now grandparents who have come to realize that one of life’s greatest joys is the love that results from investing in the life of a child. This love is what motivates them. They believe that children hold in their hearts and minds endless possibilities and perspectives, and that all children have a right to the highest quality early education.

Sandy has been in the field of education for more than 25 years, most recently as an educator at Ivybrook Fort Mill and Ivybrook Weddington. Tony is a military veteran and a telecommunications engineer. Together they own and operate Ivybrook Academy Myers Park.

“We deeply love our students and are dedicated to fostering their social, emotional, and academic growth. We are committed to providing the highest caliber of early childhood education, and it is with this at the forefront of our minds that we welcome you to the “Ivybrook Family,” and look forward to sharing the journey ahead.”

Campus Happenings

“The moment our family joined Ivybrook, we could feel how much love the educators had for their students…it was almost palpable! Over the past three years, both of our boys have grown tremendously, not only academically, but socially and emotionally as well. We are always impressed by the thoughtful individualized instruction they receive and their exposure to diverse educational activities. Additionally, they have become more caring, empathetic citizens thanks to the amazing teachers and administrators who model these traits daily. We couldn’t have wished for a more wonderful team of educators!”

Andrew and Katie Sontag; Parents of Matthew and Andrew

“There are many things we love about Ivybrook Academy. The unique curriculum blends different philosophies while fostering our child’s natural curiosity for learning. The teachers and staff have a talent to nurture growth in each individual child with care and passion. The small class sizes represent a wide spectrum of diverse families in the area. The administrative team has an unwavering passion for education which transcends the whole Ivybrook community. I have no doubt our daughter is building a solid foundation to foster a lifetime of love for learning. She eagerly goes to school, and always comes home excited to share what she’s learned. Her individual growth and development during such formative years is so important and we are grateful to partner with Ivybrook.”

Shilpa Patel; Mother of Ava

“Initially, we chose Ivybrook Academy for the curriculum. Encouraging children to think outside the box is crucial in a test-driven culture. Allowing them to become innovative and creative thinkers creates a life-long love of learning. We stayed with Ivybrook for the love, care, and kindness of the teachers and staff! Sloan and Quinn have made strong connections and love school! As parents, we appreciate the warm and welcoming community. It’s been a lovely experience and we have no doubt that it will continue!”

Kerri Doyle; Educator and Mother of Sloan and Quinn

“We wanted Aiden and Isabella to attend a pre-school where they would be free to explore their natural curiosities and learning would be an organic process as opposed to forced. We also wanted them to be in an environment where they could develop emotionally and socially. We remember, like it was yesterday, Aiden being immediately drawn to the materials in the classroom during our tour. However, what really put us over the top was when the students in the class we toured introduced themselves to our son and invited him to join them in their activities. I believe, Jorge told Sandy, “I’m sold.” As we have learned more about the Montessori and Reggio Emilia philosophies, it has only reinforced our decision. Plus, the teachers and staff have been amazing.”

Sarah and Jorge Neri, Parents of Aiden and Isabell

“We love this family! When we found Ivybrook Academy we were initially drawn to the Montessori and Reggio Emilia Inspired curriculum, the individualized instruction, and the beautiful classrooms. But what really has meant the most to us has been the staff, the loving people who care for and teach our little girl every day. They fix boo-boos and hug away tears, and truly make Ivybrook something special. We are so fortunate to be a part of this community and remain grateful for the educational foundation Ivybrook has provided Scarlett.”

Jim and Jennifer Dionne; Parents of Scarlet

“We are so fortunate to be part of the Ivybrook family and have been since day #1. It is clear that they work hard to instill two very important values that will allow our children to thrive, endless curiosity and unbridled enthusiasm. Sahana comes home head brimming with imaginative play and Kavan wonders why he can’t go to school every day (next year, bud). Our lives are vibrant knowing that our kids are being cared for in such a special way.”
